We have come to the end of the Elberta peach season for the year..
This year, our final market for Elberta peach was insane! We filled the refrigerated van till we could not fit anything else in it! The van was sooo heavy we had to put new tyres on it too!
Having said that, we will be back in March with…. Fairtime peaches!
Stay tuned for market updates
Good news and bad news…
Good news is we will have more Mystery apricots at Flemington this Sunday. Bad news is, this will be the last week of apricots for this season.
If you have returned from holidays and need to stock up on fresh fruit then stop in and see us and we will gladly help you out!
Thank you all for patiently waiting for our apricots to come to market. We are pleased to advise that we have begun our summer 2019 apricot harvest and will be bringing fresh apricots to Flemington this Sunday – just in time for Christmas!!
This is the first year we have picked enough of our Storey apricots to bring to market. Storeys are another older variety with a similar flavour to a Moorpark but they don’t get quite so soft. Storeys ripen from the inside out (like Moorpark) so they have a green tinge on the skin which hides delicious flesh inside. What more could you ask for?
We’ve been busy picking the first of our stone fruit for this season, our May Bright nectarines and we’ll have them at Flemington this Sunday.
These nectarines are a yellow flesh, cling stone variety and have a sharp flavour. Sadly these are not for lovers of sweet nectarines – sweetness comes in later varieties that have soaked up the sun longer and produced more sugars.
They will store well on the bench, or pop them in the fridge to keep a little longer.
As the count down to stone fruit continues, we hope to keep you satisfied with some more freshly picked broad beans.
I know, they are not in the same league, but they are very tasty and good for you too!
Our last market for citrus this year. We picked the last of our blood oranges yesterday and noticed while we were picking that the trees already have flower buds on them – no rest for blood oranges!
So if you would like a last hit of citrus goodness pop over to Flemington tomorrow and grab a few blood oranges.
